Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic and forward thinking individual to join our Senior Biomedical Scientist team to help take forward and develop the Haematology Department at Frimley Park Hospital
The laboratory is fully accredited with UKAS and holds IBMS training status for Registration and Specialist Portfolio.
Within the Laboratory we currently use Winpath Enterprise, Abbot HQ’s, CellaVision, Werfen TOPs and G11’s. We are currently completing the implementation of all the platforms employed within blood sciences and a GLP track.
Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS), one of the first NHS pathology networks to be established in 1998, is now one of the largest in the country. We are driven to provide a patient centred service which provides safe, high quality, clinically led diagnostics.
BSPS is a contractual joint venture between Ashford &St. Peter’s Hospitals, Frimley Health (Wexham Park & Frimley Park Hospitals), Royal Berkshire, Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts, and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare.
Being flexible, self-motivated and innovative will be fundamental to your role. The ability to communicate effectively with seniors and laboratory team is essential.
You will use your knowledge and skill to ensure a robust and fully operational system within the Haematology department. You will look for new opportunities to get the best from the team and successfully implement changes required to ensure the system delivers the desired patient focused service.
We want our staff to have a great experience working with us so they are truly happy to recommend Frimley Health as a good place to work. We expect all staff to treat colleagues as they would wish to be treated themselves.
You will be based at Frimley Park Hospital, and may be required at times to travel to the other sites in the Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Network.
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS hospital services for around 900,000 people across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and south Buckinghamshire.
As well as delivering excellent general hospital services to local people, we provide specialist heart attack, vascular, stroke, spinal, cystic fibrosis and plastic surgery services across a much wider area.
We have three main hospitals - Frimley Park in Frimley near Camberley, Heatherwood in Ascot and Wexham Park near Slough.
Our three core values , and the behaviors that support them, guide everything we do and set out what we expect of our staff in the way they treat patients, visitors, service users and each other, Committed to Excellence, Working Together and Facing the Future .
We are also proud to host the Defence Medical Group South East at Frimley Park with military surgical, medical, and nursing personnel working alongside the hospital’s NHS staff providing care to patients in all specialties.
The post-holder will practise as an HCPC Registered BMS in the department, participating fully in the practical work of the department and shift for out of hours provision. They will be responsible for the operation and provision of a high quality technical service providing guidance to other staff as appropriate. They will also be expected to deputise for the Site Lead Haematology BMS in their absence.
The post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of a quality, efficient and a timely haematology Service as requested by the service users, ensuring departmental protocols, policies and standard operating procedures are adhered to and updated to comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements including UKAS ‘Standards for the Medical Laboratory’ and ISO 15189:2012 transitioning to ISO 15189:2022 in 2024.
