JOB DESCRIPTION

The Government Digital Service is looking for senior business analysts who want to add rigour and value to an organisation where business analysis as a specific profession is still relatively new. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the growth of an internal analytical capability in a fast paced environment. You will be an experienced practitioner who can own and produce outstanding analysis.

As a Senior Business Analyst you’ll:

  • have functional and strategic management of multiple key analytical pieces of work
  • lead on strategic analysis activities to help guide and prioritise programme scope and delivery, maintaining product backlogs and contributing to roadmaps and sequencing of requirements to meet strategic objectives
  • identify, advocate for and implement changes that improve ways of working and processes both internally and externally, illustrating and realising the benefits against strategic objects as they’re delivered
  • own specific stakeholder relationships internally and externally to the programme, to understand needs and managing expectations
  • advise and guide on agile best practice, maintaining focus on iterative development to support continuous improvement of our software products
  • collaborate closely with colleagues within GDS and wider government across a range of disciplines to understand user needs and produce requirements that are clear, concise and add value
  • maintain knowledge of the changing digital and technology landscapes and the opportunities they provide to improve the delivery of public services in the UK
  • support the business analysis community by guiding and mentoring more junior business analysts, including people management accountabilities for civil servant BAs

Responsibilities:

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE REQUIRES SC CLEARANCE, WHICH WOULD NORMALLY NEED 5 YEARS’ UK RESIDENCY IN THE PAST 5 YEARS. In the event we receive a high volume of applications, we will conduct the initial sift against the lead criteria which is:

  • can demonstrate the ability to manage concurrent pieces of analysis across a fast paced programme of work, defining needs, pain points, dependencies, flows and journeys of high-volume digital products, working with multidisciplinary, agile teams – covering the full product lifecycle, driving continuous, data-led and iterative improvement, ensuring that requirements are well defined, understood, managed, prioritised and addressed appropriately
