Senior Business Analyst (Maternity Cover) - Newcastle

What you’ll be doing
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst for maternity cover to help us bring our digital product ideas to life and act as a bridge between the client, the product and the Tangent team.
You will have the opportunity to solve complex business problems resulting in progressive experiences and platforms. We need a proactive self-starter with an eye for detail that is used to working in a fast-paced environment.
You will work with us to analyse, elicit and document requirements and processes, thus helping delivery teams to prioritise and maximise business value.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborate closely with clients, product owners, and development teams to gather and document detailed business requirements.
• Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, design and development teams, fostering effective communication and understanding.
• Contribute to design and architecture discussions, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
• Develop diagrams of business requirements using recognised notation such as UML.
• Develop and maintain data models, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
• Conduct a gap analysis, documenting existing business processes and systems to identify improvement opportunities and requirements.
• Translate business requirements into comprehensive and clear functional and non-functional specifications.
• Create and manage user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria to guide development teams in building software features.
• Prioritise, MOSCOW and agree backlog of user stories with internal stakeholders, including the design and tech teams, and the client to define an MVP.
• Collaborate with QA teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage based on business requirements.

• Track requirements and support the team through the project development life cycle from wireframes, UI design, technical delivery through to testing.Provide training and support to clients post project go live.

What we are looking for

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst in a software development environment (digital/ecommerce space), ideally with 2-3 years of hands-on experience.
• Experience with Confluence & JIRA.
• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components.
• E xperience in gathering, documenting, and managing detailed business requirements.
• Capability to translate business needs into actionable specifications for development teams.
• Someone who is technically literate and understands core development terms and processes.
• Proficiency in creating user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to act as a bridge between business stakeholders and development teams, fostering effective communication and understanding.
• Experience in conducting workshops, meetings, and presentations.
• Ability to manage client expectations and ensure alignment between project outcomes and client requirements.

• A meticulous approach to documentation, ensuring clarity and completeness in user stories, specifications, and project reports.Proven ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams, including developers, Design, QA engineers, and other stakeholders.

Bonus points if you

• Experience and knowledge of various process modelling standards e.g. Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN), TOGAF, Zachman.
• Experience working within a digital agency environment would be beneficial.

• BCS/other Business Analysis qualification.Have an understanding of ISO27001; and can support with Tangent’s policies, process and internal/external audits.
