Senior Business Analyst-Tax Research SW
Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge of theories and principles and applies general knowledge of business and industry practices within business analysis. Working independently under minimal guidance, carries out a full range of professional duties and solves moderately complex problems. Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information. Prepares operations analyses including analysis of competitors, operational effectiveness, and capacity utilization and makes recommendations for improvement. Develops process analyses, end to end process mappings and identifies opportunities for improvement. May track, maintain and provide current information on business operations. May analyze or provide support on administrative financial support activities of a business division. Work may include preparing financial reports, budgets, and annual and long-term business plans. Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information. Leads team projects or project steps within a broader project or has accountability for ongoing activities or objectives. Uses advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving skills to adapt policies and programs and develop models to support small projects or the team.
Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst who will be part of the CCH AnswerConnect technical product management team.
As a key member of the product team, you will manage the implementation of new features and functionality for our tax and accounting research platforms, focusing primarily on the Canadian version of CCH AnswerConnect as well a supporting the team in the U.S. You will participate in all stages of new functional developments: designing solutions, implementation, testing and documentation; as well as contribute to software maintenance and bug fixing, analyze and coordinate solving system issues. You will sometimes be called upon to unblock critical issues, sometimes on customers’ production environments, and liaise with development colleagues for longer term solutions/fixes.
The Business Analyst works closely with a cross-functional team of application designers, developers, quality assurance, and customer unit stakeholders to document requirements and plan enhancements for release during regular sales cycles. The success of the Business Analyst will be evaluated primarily by measuring original business/customer enhancement objectives with the effectiveness and timeliness of release implementation. The Business Analyst will also lead various SAFe agile ceremonies and work closely with the rest of the product development team in managing expectations and driving delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the implementation of platform enhancements.
- Write use cases to support platform requirements.
- Triage incoming platform questions and defects, duplicate reported problems, discuss solutions with customers, technical teams, testers and business stakeholders as needed.
- Participate in ad hoc testing of system interfaces with QA team.
- Work with development and quality assurance leads to ensure smooth transition to production for release implementations.
- Manage a database of prioritized enhancement and change requests submitted by internal users and customers.
- Work with Product Management and Marketing to ensure that platform promotional campaigns support specific product enhancement features.
- Work with the R&L Go-To-Market Team in developing realistic release roll out plans and schedules for software releases.
- Ensure that enhancement deliverables are met on time and support sales cycles
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- 5 years’ experience working with functional specifications and business requirements.
- A minimum of 5 years working in a team development environment.
- Proficiency in tax principles is a plus.
- Knowledge of French (language) is a plus.
Other Skills, Abilities or Qualifications:
- Proven ability to write product requirements and use cases.
- Ability to grasp and relate complex technology and product concepts to software developers and customers.
- Ability to achieve alignment between groups with differing objectives and priorities.
- Experience working within a software development lifecycle.
