POSITION OVERVIEW:

Manages larger and more complex projects applying Projects At the Highest Standards (PATHS) project management methodology and templates to project work. As a senior member of the team, the Senior Business Analyst provides guidance, support and leadership to the various levels of Business Analysts and assists the Manager as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University education or equivalent formal post secondary education
  • Approximately five years of progressive project experience
  • Completion of an industry recognized certification in Business Analysis
  • Knowledge and experience of operational procedures and processes
  • User acceptance testing experience
  • Solid PC skills with direct exposure to MS Office Suite
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to build and maintain solid relationships with business and technology partners
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with particular emphasis on the production of clear and detailed documentation
  • Highly flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities

Document detailed business requirements:

  • Analyse and map business workflows or processes.
  • Assist in the development and acceptance of functional specification documents.
  • Maintain, control and update documents relevant to the project

Responsibilities:

  • Elicit, analyse and define high-level business requirements using the project proposal provided by the line of business.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and relationships.
  • Coordinate with respective internal and external parties (BNY Mellon, CIBC, etc.) and assist the business in preparing a business case and related financial templates to gain project approval and necessary funding.

Document detailed business requirements:

  • Analyse and map business workflows or processes.
  • Assist in the development and acceptance of functional specification documents.
  • Maintain, control and update documents relevant to the project.

Prepare project plans, securing appropriate input and agreement from all parties:

  • Coordinate the reporting of the development budget and track costs for projects as required.
  • Monitor progress against project deliverables, ensure functional areas are meeting their commitments on a timely basis, and update project plans to reflect changes.
  • Manage and track change requests throughout the project life cycle. Develop and manage contingency plans as required.
  • Log, track and address all concerns/problems throughout projects. Forward issues to the development group, along with recommended corrective actions. Escalate unresolved issues.
  • Coordinate and participate in user acceptance testing, impact analysis, and the development of policies and procedures.
  • Conduct independent system testing to ensure specifications have been met.

Give presentations to business units; communicate project status to internal and external parties:

  • Participate in presentations to CIBC Mellon project governance bodies as required.
  • Liaise with internal and external parties including technical departments and vendors to ensure accuracy of specifications.

Project related work:

  • Facilitate meetings, document and distribute meeting minutes and utilize project management tools where necessary.
  • Obtain the involvement of staff from impacted functional areas associated to projects.
  • Seek project acceptance and document project closure to ensure that all requirements have been delivered.
  • Manage business unit resources and project related activities to effectively achieve agreed upon project deliverables.
  • Track and report time against all projects within the Enterprise Project Portfolio Management application, Planview.
  • Provide operational support to business units
  • Provide support and assistance to other business analysts.
  • Conduct and participate in training sessions as necessary.
  • Assist in the resolution of system issues.
