Position Title: Senior Business Development Director - Government Contracting
Location: Fredericksburg, VA – Partially Remote
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

POSITION SUMMARY:

We’re looking for an energetic and dynamic leader to join our fun, professional, hardworking team. RPI is a successful SDVOSB that has referenceable customer relationships, prime past performance, and high-end capabilities. We need a strong leader to help us grow! The Business Development Director will be a key leadership team member and lead strategic initiatives to identify and secure new business opportunities within the government sector. This role requires a seasoned professional with experience in government contracting, business development, and preferably with the Department of Defense. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving growth, developing relationships with industry partners and government agencies, and leading proposal efforts to win new contracts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in government business development capture and proposal development, preferably selling information technology services.
  • Proven track record of winning government contracts and driving business growth.
  • Military experience is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes and regulations.
  • Excellent strategic planning, relationship-building, and networking skills.
  • Exceptional written communication and presentation abilities.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves initiative. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a highly skilled and motivated team.
  • Technology savvy. Understand information technology in Government, new technologies, trends in and modernization of information technology.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite and Deltek Govwin.
  • Eager learner of new enabling technologies like robotic process automation (Smartsheet) and artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to expand the company’s presence in the government contracting market.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify new business opportunities and stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key government agencies, industry partners, and stakeholders to facilitate business growth and collaboration.
  • Proposal Leadership: Lead the proposal development process, including coordinating with internal teams, preparing and reviewing proposals, and ensuring compliance with government requirements and standards.
  • Revenue Growth: Drive revenue growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, negotiating contracts, and closing deals with government clients.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments such as Operations, Finance, and Human Resources to ensure successful project delivery and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on business development activities, performance metrics, and outcomes to senior leadership.
