Description:

SENIOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE

The role of the Senior Business Development Executive is to work closely with the Business Development team to strengthen our work winning capability and ensure we are targeting and building strong relationships with the right clients to bring us successful repeat work winning opportunities.
You will proactively support the work winners with their business development initiatives, providing intelligence and insight into key clients, markets, and sectors.
Your role will focus on identifying key players in the industry, picking up on the hot topics to help steer our approach and attending or running exciting events. The research and intelligence you gather through a range of BD activities will inform thinking and decision making about how we pitch and what channels we leverage, to position Buro Happold’s skills and experience in the sector. You will not be responsible for work winning but required to support these actions both externally and internally, increasing our market visibility and providing crucial research.
Strong relationships with the work winners and the wider BD/ Marketing/ Bids team. Ability to demonstrate pro-active support to our work winning activities, incl. research and market intelligence gathering, positioning for opportunities and effective key relationship management. Effective management of data, incl. capturing, analysing, and demonstrating trends.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience within the construction/engineering industry
  • Have an understanding of the UK markets.
  • Working closely in a team environment.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to form relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Organised and methodical approach to tasks.
  • Confident, proactive character, with the ability to take the lead in challenging situations.
  • Ability to problem solve and think on your feet.
  • Excellent computer and IT skills and the ability to conduct data analysis.
  • Property and Construction Industry experience
  • Confident and able to work with internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously or as a team.
  • Ability to work on several tasks, under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Understand Buro Happold’s portfolio of work, key sectors, and firm wide philosophy and capabilities.
  • Marketing and Event coordination. (Desirable)
  • IT skills and the ability to conduct data analysis (Desirable)

KEY DUTIES

  • Proactively supporting the work winners with their business development initiatives, providing intelligence and insight into key clients, markets, and sectors.
  • Becoming a key point of contact for business development activities, providing support to strategic bids in this area.
  • Supporting our strategy by coordinating input to the plan and implementation of an integrated BD & Marketing plan, including conducting market and sector research into major opportunities to inform relevant strategies.
  • Actively capturing intelligence to support the tracking of opportunities for the business.
  • Supporting the creation of Key Relationship Management (KRM) plans for key clients identified and monitor KRM accounts by reporting on activity.
  • Informing the development of propositions and thought leadership by identifying the hot topics / themes driving sectors / markets.
  • Contribute to content creation for capability statements / presentation/ website materials.
  • Conducting data analysis, providing insight from collated stats e.g. demonstrating trends.
  • Utilising your knowledge and understanding of the opportunities to provide bid coordinators with additional support on our “must win” bids.
  • Sharing intelligence internal, across sectors and markets, supporting the BD community.
