Description:

WBUR’s Business Partnerships team is seeking a creative, connected Senior Business Development Executive to join our team. The Business Partnerships team is responsible for securing sponsorship and funding for editorial initiatives across all of WBUR’s platforms, including local and national broadcasts, podcasts and on-demand audio, live event sponsorship, and custom content development.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years of sales experience selling into matrix organizations as well as agencies on the account and media level. You are exceptional at developing conceptual, cross platform sponsorship opportunities, know how to navigate organizations to find multiple decision makers, and have a track record of closing the deal.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the entire sales process including outreach, presentations, negotiations, activations and client stewardship.
  • Prospect, develop, close and activate new business revenue - including cold calling, managing outreach cadence, scheduling and conducting in person meetings and presentations, and conducting contract negotiations.
  • Develop, deliver and close creative cross-platform proposals for traditional media campaigns and multi-year partnerships.
  • Reach or exceed aggressive revenue goals.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to building an inclusive roster of partners and solutions and engaging diverse viewpoints to meet the needs of both our partners and our audience.
  • Leverage deep knowledge and understanding of the marketplace, categories, media and advertising business (both non-commercial and commercial media), and trends to design custom partnership solutions that drive revenue growth.

Required Skills

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 10 + years of experience in media sales with a proven track record selling cross-platformcampaign-based, annual and multiyear advertising and sponsorship programs.
  • Extensive experience selling successfully at all levels direct to matrix organizations.
  • Experience managing agency relationships with account directors, planners and buyers.
  • Takes initiative and works autonomously.
  • Impeccable communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills as well as exceptional proposal writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience building and selling creative cross-platform (broadcast, podcast, event, digital, social, etc) partnerships toalign with client goals.
  • Highly organized and can juggle multiple tasks.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
