Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Director of Data Analytics is currently seeking a temporary full-time Senior Business Intelligence Developer. The purpose of the position is to support Waypoint’s data analytics and business intelligence program including responsibility for designing, modeling, developing, maintaining and enhancing Waypoint’s data environments and tools/solutions. This role will also support reporting, analytics and business intelligence/decision support solutions to meet the information needs and strategic goals of the organization.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develop and maintain an overall data architecture, design principles, quality control, and data standards for the organization that supports the information needs of the business in a secure environment following best practice guidelines
- Manage Enterprise data warehouse, ETL processes, SQL replication and data transformations as required to support requests in on premise and cloud based environments.
- Conceptualize and guide data requirements including initiation, oversight and evaluation of projects, initiatives and operations.
- Develop and maintain data models, data dictionaries, data maps and other artifacts including conceptual and physical models, as well as metadata repository.
- Create and maintain documentation of business requirements including functional and technical specifications and access controls.
- Maintain and document standard operating procedures related to Data & Analytics environments including databases, reporting platforms, and supporting applications.
- Analyzes data and develops reports (and other data and analytics solutions) as assigned to support requests and business needs.
- Maintains a solid working knowledge of business intelligence/decision support industry trends and best practices.
- Supports, follows and contributes to information governance and data standards established by the organization
- Assists the Director of Data Analytics in the development and implementation of an annual data and analytics work plan
- Maintains current knowledge of data and analytics leading practices in healthcare and provides coaching and mentoring to team members
- Serves as a project lead for assigned projects and quality improvement initiatives, including developing, monitoring, and reporting tools
- Maintain and develops materials to enhance work performance, such as communications, reference material, and reporting tools

- Performs all work at all times in compliance with all hospital policies and procedures and legislation (Occupational Health &Safety Act, Fire Code, WHMIS, etc.) relevant to health and safety, security (including relational/therapeutic security) and potential risk hazards, and in particular, “duties of the worker” as defined in Section 28 of the OH&S Act.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Senior Developer positions
- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
