About the role
Reporting to the Managing Director, Complex Product & Technical Sales, the Senior Business Solutions Specialist, Merchant Sales will have a primary focus to drive payment product and channel revenue by leading the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and client facing strategies for new and existing merchant offerings. You will translate organizational goals into SME and client facing strategies for the business in a way that delivers outstanding results. In addition, you are a trusted advisor and financial expert who manages the development and growth of a portfolio of merchant solutions by working with internal stakeholders and the sales teams within ATB Business Solutions. You will also engage with partners for Merchant and directly with customer Controllers and Treasurers to understand their complex business requirements and be able to present merchant solutions to meet their needs.
The Senior Business Solutions Specialist provides direction and leadership to ensure sales and revenue targets related to other income and deposits are met and exceeded while mitigating risk. In addition, you provide timely coaching to the entire ATB Business team to adapt to the rapidly evolving merchant payments environment.
Accountabilities
- Generate revenue through the effective commercialization of ATB Business products and channels which enable the sales and service teams to diversify revenue and strengthen our balance sheet to secure ATB’s future.
- Keep abreast and have a deep understanding of new/retired products and features related to Merchant available through vendors or internal partners and oversee the communication and training to support sales and service teams with the knowledge transfer.
- Develop and build effective relationships with internal and external partners to support the attainment of ATB’s strategic goals.
- Develop new and nurture existing large complex merchant client relationships to deliver consistent and sustained results of merchant income and deposit growth for the entire business.
- Maintain and build Merchant industry expertise, leveraging superior networks and available insights to identify changes that impact ATB’s business customers.
- Manage the processes, infrastructure and resources needed to deliver agreed team plans and targets, identifying and implementing improvements and collaborating with colleagues to maximize end to end integration, effectiveness and efficiency.
- Continuously re-assess Merchant risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
Skills, experience & requirements
- 15+ years of experience in business banking with direct experience in Merchant Payments,Cash management and Transaction Banking.
- University degree in business, with a focus on finance, economics, business marketing and sales management or equivalent experience.
- CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) Designation is an asset.
- MBA or CFA is an asset.
- In-depth to expert knowledge of the Payment Processing (Acquiring) Industries is essential.
- Demonstrated growth mindset and ability to influence and impact teammates.
- Strong business and change management acumen as well as exceptional organizational skills. Ability to articulate and document value added processes, business cases, opportunity assessments and status reports.
- Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills, including the ability to devise creative, workable solutions within established policies and/or identify policy constraints
- Strong research, analytical, organizational and project management skills (including planning, prioritization and execution).
- Exceptional communication skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships with executive leaders (President, CEO, CFO etc.) and ability to present effectively to Boards and Associations.
- Proven ability to partner with clients to develop an understanding of complex business issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Excellent connector of people and ideas – able to build relationships naturally, align the interests of broad stakeholders and provide effective oversight to deliver flawless execution of complex financial solutions.
- Ability to present complex issues effectively at all levels in the organization and effectively influence others.
