At Questrade, we bring digital solutions into our investment needs. Our Business Systems Analysis team is the conduit between our Technology department and various lines of business, to build and improve our platforms.
As a Senior Business Systems Analyst, you’ll spearhead a key area, partnering with business owners and engineers to gather requirements and support mission-related tasks. Additionally, you’ll act as the main Subject Matter Expert for Agile teams, harmonizing technical and business viewpoints.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Agile Expert: Proficient in Agile methodologies, adept at collaborating in teams to develop software solutions for web and mobile platforms.
  • Domain Specialist: Deep understanding of business processes, systems, and technologies within the relevant domain.
  • Effective Communicator: Strong communication skills enable seamless interaction with stakeholders across all organizational levels.
  • API Proficiency: Skilled in using tools like Postman for comprehensive API testing, automation, and collaboration, ensuring functionality and efficiency.
  • Data Analysis: Experienced in deriving actionable insights from data using tools like MSSQL, Power BI, or similar.
  • Investment Knowledge: Familiarity with investment strategies, including stocks and cryptocurrencies.
  • Tech Enthusiast: Continuously curious about emerging technologies and their applications.
  • Project Management: Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Agile Frameworks: Understanding of Agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban, proficient in writing user stories for engineers.
  • Workflow Management: Skilled in mapping workflows into diagrams and working with large datasets in spreadsheets.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to convey the importance of technical improvements and troubleshoot product issues effectively.
  • Time Management: Strong time management and prioritization skills ensure efficient task execution.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:

  • 5+ years working as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or technical role within the financial services industry
  • Work experience or strong knowledge in investments industry: discount brokerage and wealth management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Business, and/or Finance with relevant work experience

Additional kudos if you…

  • Completed or pursuing Canadian Securities Course (CSC®), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO®), Certified Scrum Master (CSM®), Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP®) or equivalent
  • Closely worked with JIRA, Confluence, Gitlab or equivalent tools
  • Knowledge in banking and/or cryptocurrency industry
  • Software development and/or entrepreneurial experience

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and share Solution Intent for assigned features, gathering and updating requirements from stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to update Solution Intent during discovery and implementation.
  • Assist in defining acceptance criteria for feature and story breakdowns, considering feasibility and dependencies.
  • Support squad members in breaking down stories into tasks to meet objectives.
  • Clarify acceptance criteria and dependencies for prioritized stories and tasks.
  • Define acceptance criteria for features and stories based on feasibility, dependencies, and release strategy.
  • Create tasks with squad members, ensuring clear scope to meet story objectives.
  • Identify and verify dependencies, discussing updates with stakeholders.
  • Validate dependency resolution in testing phases.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, providing feedback as a squad member.
  • Conduct post-deployment smoke tests.
  • Maintain release notes in the repository to record changes.
  • Validate product increments in testing environments to align with acceptance criteria
  • Demonstrate confidence, critical thinking, innovation, and technological awareness to solve organizational challenges.
  • Offer solutions to enhance product quality, reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Mentor and guide junior business analysts to support their professional development and growth.
  • Provide data analysis on proposed and ongoing initiatives, offering insights and recommendations to drive informed decision-making.
