We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting and driving insights for technology adoption and enhancements. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of private investment markets and a strong analytical background to enable our investment teams through technology and to support strategic initiatives. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively.
A Business Analyst in the Global Technology and Data Delivery team works closely with Business System Analysts, Developers, Quality Assurance teams, and various business stakeholders to execute on critical enterprise initiatives and ongoing operational enhancements. Our Business Analysts engage closely with our partners in Investments, Operations, and corporate functions to deliver technology-enabled solutions. The successful candidate will work extensively in capturing and often helping define business requirements across multiple stakeholders, work through data and process gaps, support testing plans and activities across multiple projects, all with the objective of creating optimal value for client groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute and sometimes lead efforts to enable the pursuit of investment opportunities by defining and delivering technology solutions across the full investment lifecycle
  • Identify and translate high level, conceptual user needs into specific business requirements with high attention to detail
  • Perform root cause analysis on issues and recommend potential solutions
  • Demonstrate experience in a role within investment management industry, including experience in front and middle office
  • Have a deep understanding of private investment markets, including private equity, private debt, venture capital, real estate, and alternative investments
  • Have exposure to a diverse set of investment management products including OTC derivatives, equity, fixed income, with a preference towards private markets
  • Facilitate requirement and solution-design sessions with all impacted stakeholders
  • Analyze and research use cases to guide solution options and overall development activities
  • Support the full project lifecycle of an initiative from business case development, requirements definition, design, development, testing, and deployment
  • Operate as part of a broader delivery team that partners with Technology, Investment, and Corporate stakeholders to deliver against an integrated program of work
  • Stay informed about changes in regulatory environments and advise on implications for investment strategies.
  • Continually assess team and divisional processes and make recommendations for enhancements
  • Sustain a current understanding of the general data and technology landscape and bring forward ideas and recommendations on how best to leverage such innovations within AIMCo

Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Possesses a diploma or degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Finance, Business or Project Management
  • Deep understanding of private investment markets, including private equity, private debt, venture capital, real estate, and alternative investments
  • Experience in business analysis, investment analysis, or a related field, with a strong focus on private investments
  • Knowledge of various financial instrument life cycle events is considered an asset
  • Experience in the Canadian or US Pension industry or investment management is considered an asset
  • CSC, CFA, or similar designations are definite assets
  • Demonstrated experience in a role within the investment management industry, with experience in delivering or supporting IT solutions across the entire investment lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of project management guidelines and methodologies
  • Knowledge of ITIL, DevOps and Agile methodologies
  • Experience with work management systems such as JIRA and Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of SimCorp Dimension, BlackRock Aladdin, eFront, Charles River, Eagle, Calypso, and integration platforms like TIBCO and Azure is an asset
  • Embraces a variety of viewpoints, comfortable with professional debate, and collaborates to generate best solutions
  • Strong business acumen adept at managing multiple, concurrent deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Passion for continuous learning and excellent team player
