Join our team as a Senior Buyer supporting the Overhead Line (OHL) side of our Power Transmission & Distribution Business Unit as we work to deliver the SSE Skye OHL Project.
The project itself is a new build Overhead Line and HV Underground Cable scheme, that runs 160 kilometres from Fort Augustus to Ardmore on the Isle of Skye.
You will be working to lead and deliver complex works that really matters to our business, and the world around you!
Our Team is currently working on a vast project portfolio which is reshaping the entire energy sector in Scotland, with a focus on securing the UK’s future energy security and net zero ambitions. This role will require occasional travel to the Skye Overhead Line projects both on the mainland and to the Isle of Skye.
What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Buyer, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • To lead and help develop an assigned Project’s strategic Procurement journey.
  • To lead and develop direct reports such as Buyers and Junior Buyers who work on the assigned Project.
  • To update and manage Procurement Strategies for the Overhead Line projects as part of the overall Scotland Power T&D business.
  • To create, update and manage Procurement Schedules for the Scotland Overhead Line business on a day-to-day basis.
  • Leading Subcontract tenders and qualifying, analysing and evaluating all responses.
  • To expedite key materials to site.
  • Preparation of request for proposals and quotations.
  • Manage key supply chain risks.
  • Carrying out supplier evaluations for designated procurement exercises.
  • Conducting negotiations to enable the shortlisting of suppliers, for designated procurement exercises.
  • Leading and/or supporting final negotiations with selected suppliers.
  • Preparing orders in accordance with BB Power T&D procurement governance where required.
  • Monitor the supply market to identify potential new suppliers and products and meet with suppliers to understand their products.
  • Focus on exceeding minimum service expectations by delivering an agile, value adding service with a deep understanding of customer requirements, technical competence, functional knowledge, and process efficiency.
  • Establish performance led supplier relationships focusing on value for money,service & product quality, and continuous improvement to drive competitive advantage.
  • The Senior Buyer will collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as the Category, Finance, Operations and Commercial teams, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods and services.
