Diesel has long been a leading pioneer in denim and casual fashion, known for moving outside and ahead of trends in its industry. While retaining always its DNA, in recent years Diesel has evolved into the world of premium casual wear, becoming a true alternative to the established luxury market. Diesel is a truly worldwide organization. It is present in more than 80 countries with 5,000 points of sale, including more than 400 company owned stores.
We are looking for a Senior Buyer Denim - EU, who will be placed within the European Buying Team directly reporting to the Head of Buying & Merchandising Europe and will be based in Diesel European HQ in Milan.

MAIN REQUIREMENTS:



  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years Retail buying experience in modernly structured fashion companies.
  • Previous experience in the management of Male or Female Denim product
  • A degree in Economics, Fashion Management or similar
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language
  • Advanced skills in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask and a strong pro-activity
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Sharp business sense and passion for the world of fashion, good aesthetic sensibility and a personal interest in new trends.
  • The profile must have a problem-solving approach, passion for accuracy, willingness to learn and high level of confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

Pre-Season:

  • Collaborate closely with the Retail Merchandising team to define the seasonal brief, identifying regional needs and market opportunities.
  • Implement the brand strategy by aligning product selection with merchandising insights, focusing on key stories and concepts to drive the season.
  • Develop the European buying strategy for denim collections, working closely with Regional Planning to create a seasonal plan by collection and store.
  • Execute category buying by size, informed by merchandising inputs, seasonal budget, and historical performance analysis. Define initial orders and Open-to-Buy (OTB) by store for all the channels.
  • Build the European collection structure and manage the product workflow from planning to execution.

In-Season:

  • Collaborate with the Visual Merchandising team to ensure visual guidelines reflect the EU seasonal buy, emphasizing key investment pieces.
  • Prepare comprehensive training documents for stores, explaining the buying strategy and key messages of the season.
  • Analyze the performance of collections on a weekly base and implement prompt recovery plans if needed.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape and consumer preferences by conducting market research and frequent store visits.
  • Work closely with the allocation team to manage in-season stock transfers and react to sales trends.
  • Be constantly in contact with the stores and the Retail Managers to gather all the relevant information that could support the business growth.
  • Plan store visits with the aim to better understand the customers and the specific need of the location.

Post-Season:
Provide feedback to relevant departments by identifying key learnings from the closed season to inform future strategies.
