Description:

SUMMARY

The Sr. Buyer is key in identifying and implementing year-on-year efficiency improvement initiatives and collaborating with all internal stakeholders to ensure that all suppliers to whom Purchase Orders are issued comply with PlayCore policies. The Sr. Buyer will also be instrumental in educating Buyers, Inventory team and other internal stakeholders on policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree with business emphasis (e.g., Logistics, Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance)
  • Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic computer and office equipment skills needed. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Sage a plus.
  • Proficient in datasheets and blueprints

Responsibilities:

  • Management mentors and coaches of up to 2 employees in the purchasing department.
  • Implement, manage, and improve all process related to the materials department (purchasing, inventory).
  • Utilize management soft skills to work cross functionally and vertically within matrix organization.
  • Manage the daily buyer workload to ensure proper materials levels, shortage/open order tracking are achieved.
  • Host weekly meetings with internal stakeholders to solicit feedback, develop and implement action plans to improve materials team performance.
  • Balance competing priorities, coordinates departmental schedule to ensure manufacturing is fully supported and project level jobs are appropriately managed.
  • Works closely with the lead for accuracy and timeliness of work produced by the purchasing and inventory teams.
  • Develops an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders.
  • Purchase inventory and specialty items as needed in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Delivering a weekly purchase order report to supervisors that indicates the invoice number for all closed orders.
  • Request quotes from vendor sources to secure the best price and delivery.
  • Enter make to stock orders for The Fountain People orders.
  • Working within the management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders and report any back ordered or missing products.
  • Document, analyze and track completed purchase orders to ensure buyers are performing the purchasing functions correctly.
  • Expedite orders for critical items as required.
  • Manage minimum and max inventory limits in communication with inventory lead/production manager.
  • Effectively communicating with the management team to ensure all orders are accurate.
  • Other duties may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
