Description:

Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 140km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning 140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our HLWJV project team.
The Quantity Surveyor role is responsible and accountable for providing commercial and contractual support to the Project Team.
Your primary responsibility will be to prepare quantity take-offs (time and cost) per discipline based on IFC documentation and within the contractual timeline.

Responsibilities:

PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE WILL BE BASED IN SYDNEY (CBD).

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain systems and procedures which ensure accurate complication of quantity take-offs in accordance with the pricing schedule
  • Prepare variations, claims with breakup calculations to submit upstream. Analyse any downstream claims as required. Track and report on estimate quantities to be compared for cost performance
  • Schedule, maintain and forecast performance applying contemporary financial analysis methods
  • Interpret and administer contractual rights and obligations including submitting required notices, claims on a timely manner.
  • Assist Commercial Manager in ensuring systems are in place to facilitate the effective control of variations, delays.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Tertiary qualification in business, commerce, quantity surveying, engineering, finance, construction or similar
  • Australian Insititute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) or Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) registered (desirable)
  • Minimum 5 years practical contract administration, quantity surveying or engineering experience
  • Expertise in schedule and cost plan analysis and measurement, contractual claims analysis, and contractual variation management
