Description:

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Care Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to residents in a care home setting, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being. You will work closely with other staff members to implement care plans and support the daily activities of our residents. The expectation is that Senior Care Assistants will give the same level of support and care, as a family member would provide. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both residents and their families.

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience (minimum of 2 years) in a care role.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience supervising staff in a care environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents and their families.
  • Familiarity with IT systems used for maintaining care records is advantageous.
  • A genuine passion for providing quality care to seniors and enhancing their quality of life is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the shift, ensuring all care activities are carried out to the highest standard, and lead by example.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities such as washing, bathing, dressing, undressing and using the toilet.
  • To help service users with mobility issues and other disabilities, including incontinence, help in use and care of aids and equipment.
  • Care for service users who are who are temporarily sick and needing, for example, minor dressings, bed nursing, help with feeding.
  • Support the implementation of individual care plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
  • Supervise junior staff members, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of resident care and progress, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals to promote a collaborative care environment.
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings to enhance skills and knowledge in senior care.
  • To help care for service users who are at end of life.
  • To help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of service users through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies, and recreations.
  • To make and change beds; tidy rooms; do light cleaning and empty commodes.
  • To inspect, launder and mend service users clothing.
  • To set tables and trays; serve meals; feed service users who require help; prepare light meals and wash up; tidy and clear the dining room.
  • To answer emergency bells, the door and telephone; greet visitors.
  • Escalation of significant changes in health or circumstances of a service user.
