About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Category Specialist to join our Procurement team in Newcastle. You will support the execution of Whitehaven Coal’s Procurement strategy and lead sourcing projects for goods and services at an exciting time for the company. We are looking for strong team players to join our tight knit friendly team culture. This role is a full-time permanent position based in our Newcastle office.

What You’ll do

  • Review spend analytics and develop sourcing strategies
  • Lead competitive tendering activities
  • Negotiate and establish contracts with key suppliers
  • Analysis of vendor spend data
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risk for the company
  • Mentor and lead category team members
  • Engage with senior stakeholders and establish award strategies which align with business objectives
  • Helping deliver sustainable procurement outcomes.
  • Occasional travel to operating sites will be required.
