Description:

  • To abstract and analyse complex clinical information and to assign codes using ICD10 and OPCS4 and enter these codes on to the trust’s system.
  • To abstract and analyse complex clinical information and to assign codes using ICD10 and OPCS4 and enter these codes on to the trust’s PAS system.
  • Work as a member of the clinical coding team with responsibility for the coding of allocated wards
  • Where a discharge summary is incomplete the coder will be responsible for extracting co-morbidities and other relevant supplementary information from handwritten, complex medical notes including retrieving histological results to ensure specificity and completeness of diagnostic coding
