Job Purpose
This is a client-side role for an experienced Clinical Engineer for Bon Secours New Limerick Hospital. The role will entail oversight of install of Medical Equipment and necessary support to safeguard operational readiness of Hospital Medical Devices within each respective department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, IT problems/issues associated with installation, commissioning and operational readiness of medical devices using their knowledge, qualifications, training and/or experience
- Assist with the co-ordination and implementation of preventative maintenance schedules and safety programs
- Contribute as required to the development of the hospitals policies and services, where required, through participation in the work of, and contributing to the management of, the appropriate operational teams and groups
- Provide guidance on the selection, specification, acceptance testing, commissioning and safety of new equipment and services
- Support staff in the implementation of patient care involving technology
- Participate in implementation and ongoing use of the Bon Secours Maintenance Management and Asset Register System ensuring all equipment is maintained to relevant standards and appropriate records are available at all times
- Have working knowledge of EHR device connectivity and provision of support device connectivity with the Bon Secours EHR
- Have a working knowledge of the JCI Standards as they apply to the role, for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards etc. and comply with associated Bons protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards as appropriate to the role
- Contribute as required to the development of the policies, procedures, guidelines and services
Essential Criteria
Experience
Minimum of five years postgraduate experience in an appropriate medical industrial filed, including at least three years in a Clinical Engineering Environment.
Qualifications
Must hold a recognised qualification, (level 7 or higher) in one of the following engineering disciplines:
- Electronic / Electrical
- Instrument Physics
- Industrial Instrumentation
- Mechanical
- Mechatronic
- Biomedical
