Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Endoscopy Clinical Fellow to join our thriving Endoscopy team at BHRUT , we are looking for someone with an interest in advanced endoscopy services, keen to learn and who works well as part of a team.
Endoscopy at BHR is a JAG accredited, busy and thriving department providing a broad range of services for patients with all GI conditions.
Jointly led by specialist medical and surgical GI clinicians and supported by specialist nurses in many fields, endoscopy services include rapid access to diagnostics for patients with potential GI malignancies. We provide advanced techniques including complex EMR, ESD, ERCP, EUS and are about to start SpyGlass , Double Balloon Enteroscopy and RFA. BHR is a regional cancer centre for the diagnosis and treatment of upper GI malignancies and colorectal cancer. We are fully accredited for training in endoscopy. We provide assessment, treatment, and continuing care for patients with all gastrointestinal and liver conditions. The Endoscopy unit at Queens Hospital is also a nominated and chosen site for the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme .
The post holder will join a team of gastroenterologists & GI Surgeons to deliver a GI endoscopy service, whilst training to a high level in advanced endoscopy or another mutually agreed field.
The post is for 1 year renewable for 1 further year by mutual agreement. You should be competent and have full JAG certification in gastroscopy and colonoscopy. It would be an advantage to have attended the train the trainers course although this not essential.
There will be opportunities to participate in audit and research activities in the GI and endoscopy unit.

In keeping with recent guidelines, the postholder will be expected to participate in the process of medical audit.
There is an active postgraduate education centre with a well-stocked library. Regular meetings are held, and the appointee will be expected to attend and participate in the weekly Grand Round. There is a monthly clinical audit programme , each firm taking responsibility in rotation. Attendance at this meeting is mandatory.

Patients across northeast London are benefitting from two new state of the art theatres at KGH and our Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub will significantly increase the number of scans that can be carried out.
We’re looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It’ll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
This post is suitable for either a trainee fully certified in diagnostic gastroscopy and colonoscopy, or a newly qualified CCT certified Gastroenterologist / GI Surgeon.
Public transport facilities are good. Car parking facilities are available. There is an active junior doctor’s mess.
The post is covered by the terms and conditions of services of Hospital, Medical and Dental Staff. The appointment is superannuable unless the postholder chooses to opt out of the National Health Service Superannuation Scheme
