Description:

CCGS is hosted within the Division of Specialist Care at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Chelsea Centre for Gender Surgery offers masculinising lower surgery, feminising lower surgery, and masculinising chest surgery.
As part of the masculinising lower surgery (metoidioplasty or phalloplasty), patients are offered minimally-invasive gynaecological surgery, which includes hysterectomy, adnexectomy and vaginectomy. Procedures offered for lower feminising surgery include vaginoplasty, vulvoplasty and orchidectomies.
The team at CCGS comprises of consultant urological, plastic and gynaecological surgeons leading a multidisciplinary team of Nurse Specialists, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists, Dieticians, Psychologists, Anaesthetists and Endocrinologists. The service is supported by a Deputy General Manager covering Gender Health and two patient pathway coordinators, who will be the first point of contact for service users and will provide administrative support to the clinical team.
The successful candidate will join this national service to help deliver world class surgical care to patients having gender affirming surgery. Candidates must be committed to the delivery of trans-inclusive care and be sensitive to the unique needs of this patient group. The successful candidate will be involved in the preoperative and postoperative care of this patient group, as well as the surgery itself. They will be expected to substantially contribute to the development of the service, and audit/research within the programme.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provide services from two main hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital, and a number of clinics across London and the South-East.
We have nearly 7,000 members of staff that care for nearly one million people locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Both hospitals provide full clinical services, including full maternity, emergency and children’s, in addition to a range of community-based services across London, such as sexual health and HIV clinics.
We’re one of the best preforming Trusts in the country. We’re also one of the top trusts to work for – our staff say they’re engaged, motivated, and would recommend us as a place to work and receive treatment.
Our Trust has been rated by the Care Quality Commission as ‘Good’ in all five of the main domains of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led, giving an us overall rating of ‘Good’. We’ve also been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating for ‘use of resources’ by an NHS Improvement inspection.
Our facilities are some of the best in the country. We have been investing around £10 million a year in our estate. We spent 30 million on state of the art adult and neonatal critical care facilities at Chelsea and Westminster in partnership with our charity, CW+ and generous donors.
