Description:
MercyAscot is New Zealand’s largest private surgical facility with 22 theatres across 3 sites. We are seeking an experienced, flexible, and driven Senior Clinical Pharmacist with expertise in pain and analgesia management to deliver specialised patient care and lead a programme of analgesic stewardship. Collaborating with the Pain Nurse Specialist, you will form one half of the Pain Team with a key focus on promoting safe and effective use of opioids, reducing the incidence of serious adverse events and improving patient care. IMPORTANT SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- A NZ qualified Pharmacist with current APC.
- A minimum of three years of clinical pharmacy experience is required, with essential experience in general surgical wards. Experience in managing different pain modalities and/or medication safety would be desirable.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with the team
- Strong communication skills and the capacity to forge excellent relationships with colleagues and patients
- Available to work 40 hours per week with some weekend/on-call shifts

Responsibilities:
- Working in collaboration with the Charge Clinical Pharmacy Manager to develop and lead a programme of analgesic stewardship as well as expand the acute pain service at MercyAscot
- Working in collaboration with the pain nurse specialist in reviewing patients as part of pain rounds and recommending appropriate treatment
- Participating in the delivery of specialised pain education (lead by the Pain Nurse Specialist) across the organisation
- Supporting the broader clinical pharmacy team with delivery of service across the organisation, particularly rotational pharmacists and students, in their learning and professional growth.
- Initiatives for enhancing quality, updating guidelines, protocols, and policies tailored for the pain service and / or analgesic stewardship.
