Description:
We are looking for Clinical Psychologist with a passion for working with children and adolescents with physical health problems, who are experiencing psychological, emotional and social difficulties.
You will join a highly valued team at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital who provide a comprehensive psychological service to children, young people and their families with a range of health conditions. We are part of a larger CHP service, with further teams based in Central and West areas of BCUHB.
You will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapeutic intervention across child health psychology, working closely with consultant paediatricians, specialist nurses, and other medical MDT colleagues.
There are opportunities to further develop your knowledge and skills in clinical leadership, supervision, service development, consultation, and training. Continuing Professional Development is supported. We have close links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme and provide trainee placements.
We welcome applications from those newly or recently qualified as these posts can be offered, based upon experience, at a Band 8a or Band 7 Preceptorship arrangement. There may be the opportunity to pick up additional hours on a temporary basis. We will also consider applicants who are seeking fewer sessions.
To provide a specialised clinical psychology service to clients of the sector, providing specialised psychological assessment and therapy to clients.
To work autonomously in accordance with The British Psychological Society Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles and Guidelines 2004, and Health and Care Professions Council.
Within the team, to exercise delegated responsibility for the management and supervision of assistant psychologists and the workload of trainees, within the framework of the team/service policies and procedures.
To contribute to the development of local team policies and procedures in order to facilitate improvement in service quality.
To advise service and professional management on aspects of the service related to the team where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.
To provide professional and clinical supervision for designated staff, as appropriate.
To provide clinical placements and supervision for Doctoral level trainee clinical psychologists and to deliver training to other professionals.
To utilise specialised research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
