Description:
Sheffield Children’s Residential
We are looking for an innovative therapeutic lead who is enthusiastic about service development and working with our children (aged 12-18 years) who live in one of our 3 residential homes.
The children’s residential service is a trauma informed service; the ethos is inclusive in the sense that we don’t include or exclude children based on diagnosis and we are proud that we often work with young people who have struggled to engage with traditional clinic based NHS mental health services.
The relationship between practitioner and child is at the heart of all interventions, ensuring that the child feels cared for, supported and encouraged to follow their dreams.
You will be part of a team who are passionate about supporting children to move onto new chapters in their life. The residential service is proud to support children when they move on, because we know that the relationships they have formed become a significant part of their journey. Remaining connected to our children is a huge priority, whilst also recognising that residential care is not the end destination, but this does not mean relationships are severed.
As a therapeutic lead you will have close links with our Looked After CAMH service and mainstream CAMHS teams. You will lead the trauma informed approach and work within an MDT which includes our Clinical Psychologist, speech and language therapists and residential staff. You will work closely with social care and the MDT as professionals within the homes share information and work closely together to ensure that our children receive the best level of care, bespoke to their needs.
The role involves direct psychological work (assessment, formulation, and intervention) with children, consultation across the residential homes, training and leading on reflective practice with professionals and staff members.
At Sheffield Children’s, our purpose is clear: to provide healthier futures for children and young people. Our three strategic aims are:
Outstanding Patient Care
Brilliant Place to work
Leaders in Children’s Health
We work successfully with local, regional, and national partners to provide physical and mental healthcare across acute and community settings. Many of our clinicians are amongst the best in their field, recognised nationally and internationally for their expertise.
As well as having enormous pride in what we do, we are a friendly, welcoming, and motivated NHS Trust who are guided by our CARE values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. Our nearly 4000 colleagues live these values, ensuring kind and compassionate care that makes patients and their families feel safe and at home.
As we approach our 150th anniversary in 2026, we remain committed to enhancing our reputation in children’s health leadership, improving the experiences of both patient and colleagues, and focusing on our communities and population health.
Please refer to the relevant job description and person specification for full details.
