Description:
We are looking for a small animal cardiologist to run and further develop the cardiology service at the Vetsuisse Faculty Bern. Applicants should be board-eligible or boarded diplomates of the European (ECVIM-CA) or the American (ACVIM) College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialty of cardiology.
What We Offer
The Small Animal Clinic in Bern offers specialist services in internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, surgery, neurology, dermatology, radiology, emergency and critical care medicine. The clinic includes an intensive care unit that operates 24/7. We are committed to providing the best possible multidisciplinary care for our patients, provide training to the next generation of veterinarians and to advance veterinary medicine. A friendly and collaborative environment with flat hierarchies ensures a positive workplace.
The successful applicant will work with a team of dedicated nurses and a specialty intern and will be expected to develop a residency programme. At the Vetsuisse Faculty, two academic tracks are currently available: the educator track (80% clinical work) and the habilitation track (50% clinical work). Both are designed to lead to a tenured position (Dozentur). Part-time or job-sharing arrangements can be discussed if desired.
Current cardiology equipment includes:
- Ultrasound (Philips Affinity 70C)
- ECG/Holter
- Siemens Vida 3T MRI
- Siemens Naeotom Alpha photon-counting scanner with Cardio software (the first of its kind in veterinary medicine)
- O-Arm: CBCT mobile for 2D fluoroscopy (intraoperative) and volume 3D scans CBCT
For interventional cardiology and related research, our faculty has access to the Experimental Animal Center at Inselspital, located just 10 minutes from the animal hospital. This center is equipped with a Siemens ARTIS icono floor fluoroscope, state-of-the-art anesthesia and recovery facilities, and dedicated veterinary staff.
The Small Animal Clinic in Bern is located in the heart of the city, close to the Alpine mountains and several beautiful lakes, providing easy access to numerous outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing, skiing, and cycling.
