Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable hands-on senior cloud architect with extensive knowledge of Azure and Microsoft 365 and previous insurance/ reinsurance industry experience for a 6 month initial contract, hybrid working 1-2 days a week in the Ipswich office. This role involves designing and implementing Azure-based cloud-first solutions, optimising cloud infrastructure for high availability, scalability, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, implement, and manage robust, secure, and scalable cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
- Lead and oversee technical projects such as Cloud Adoption, Landing Zone design and deployment, Cloud Migration, Cloud Readiness, and Cloud Maturity assessments.
- Ensure MSPs/CSPs deliver high-quality solutions that meet our standards.
- Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure in line with industry best practices.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and ensure they align with business goals.
- Manage the migration of on-premises applications and infrastructure to the cloud environment.
- Implement and enforce cloud security measures, including identity and access management, data protection, and compliance with regulations such as GDPR and SOC 2.
EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive experience in cloud architecture, focusing on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
- Experience within the insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Demonstrated experience in leading technical projects (Cloud Adoption, Landing Zone design and deployment, Cloud Migration, Cloud Readiness, Cloud Maturity).
- Experience in regulated environments is essential.
- Proven expertise in Azure IaaS (virtual machines, storage, networking, security).
- Experience with Azure Backup & Recovery Services.
- Knowledge of Azure Governance (Blueprints, policies, tagging, cost management).
- Proficiency with Azure SQL Databases (Managed Instances, PaaS, IaaS).
- Experience with Azure Security (Zero Trust, Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Azure AD, AIP).
- Familiarity with Azure Serverless and integration (Batch, Function, Logic Apps, EventGrid).
- Experience with Azure Containers (AKS, ACI, ACR).
- Expertise in Active Directory (Azure AD, Azure AD DS, on-premises AD DS).
- Experience with Windows Server/Linux OS.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform, PowerShell).
- Proven experience in Solution Architecture (Cloud, Security, Hybrid).
- Experience with Microsoft 365, including migrations and security.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with automation and orchestration tools such as PowerShell, ARM templates, and Azure CLI.
- Expertise with DevOps practices and tools.
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments (GCP, AWS and Azure).
- Experience in regulated environments, particularly within financial services is essential.
