cardfactory are excited to announce a Senior Commercial Finance Manager to join our growing Finance team with a focus on Supply Chain..
As a Senior Commercial Finance Manager, you will be responsible for leading and directing the business partnering function within the Supply Chain leadership team and collaborating closely with the Executive Director, Supply Chain. You will be responsible for building and managing a team of Analysts and Business Partners, providing critical insights, analysis, and governance. Your work will influence performance and strategy through data-driven decision-making and planning.
Based at Junction 41 in Wakefield, with free parking and a flexible, hybrid way of working, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in our team. Colleagues are required to work in the office for a minimum of 2-3 days per week, with the expectation of additional attendance when needed.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and budgeting process for Supply Chain costs, KPIs, and inventory levels.
  • Provide strategic insights, advising on optimal value creation for the business by reducing complexity, enhancing accuracy (right first time), and lowering costs and inventory.
  • Track financial and non-financial performance measures, monitoring the progress of strategic growth initiatives and driving necessary actions.
  • Offer investment appraisal and decision support for growth opportunities, including automation, efficiency improvements, and strategic sourcing options (make vs buy). Conduct post-investment reviews to assess success, determine next steps, and identify lessons learned.
  • Evaluate supply chain performance from inventory and profitability perspectives to influence ranging and pricing decisions through a better understanding of end-to-end product profitability.
  • Lead and develop a team that delivers high-quality forecasting, analysis, and decision support. Manage all aspects of recruitment and training, set objectives, and provide feedback. Serve as a role model and cultivate a high-performing team.
  • Assist Internal Audit and Management Accounts in enhancing inventory internal controls, offering efficient reporting and insights on internal control KPIs.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Chartered accountant with strong post-qualification experience in commercially focused finance roles, including supply chain and manufacturing environments.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently, with a proven history of proactively identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish productive business relationships with a diverse network of finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Skilled in prioritising multiple work streams and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Strong people and line management abilities, including leading recruitment processes, setting objectives, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews. Exhibits ‘role model’ qualities and has a track record of team management and development.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as investment appraisal methodologies.
  • Proficient in Excel, knowledgeable in Power BI, and experienced in building, maintaining, and analysing complex financial models for both finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Preferably experienced in using and developing Anaplan or similar financial planning tools.
