Role
The Senior Commercial and Industrial Lending Specialist is responsible for leading and managing the bank’s commercial and industrial (C&I) loan portfolio growth. This senior-level role requires strategic leadership, a deep understanding of credit risk, and the ability to foster relationships with business clients. The lender will oversee the development and execution of lending strategies for businesses, focusing on growing the C&I portfolio while maintaining sound credit quality and profitability. Additionally, the role will involve collaborating with other departments and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and implement lending strategies to drive business growth while minimizing risk.
- Oversee the portfolio management of existing commercial and industrial loans, ensuring high-quality service and relationships with clients.
- Establish and monitor key performance metrics for the leadership team, ensuring performance targets are met or exceeded.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the C&I loan portfolio.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients, industry partners, and referral sources.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their financing needs and develop tailored lending solutions.
- Present loan proposals and financial solutions to clients, addressing any concerns or issues.
- Ensure the C&I loan portfolio adheres to risk management guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Review loan requests, including assessing credit risk and recommending appropriate loan structures.
- Work with leadership to assess loan portfolio, including conducting due diligence, financial analysis, and reviewing borrower information.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal lending policies and procedures.
- Oversee the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of the C&I lending portfolio’s financial performance.
- Prepare and present regular reports on the health and performance of the C&I portfolio.
- Stay informed of industry trends, market conditions, and changes in regulations that may impact the C&I lending market.
- Maintain knowledge of competitors’ offerings and identify opportunities for competitive differentiation.
Knowledge & Skills
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial and industrial lending or a related banking role, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and growing a C&I loan portfolio.
- Strong experience in credit analysis, loan structuring, and portfolio management.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial loan products, financial markets, and lending regulations.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze complex financial statements, assess credit risk, and make sound lending decisions.

Physical Requirement
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
Regular in-office attendance required.
