The role
Lendlease Construction is currently recruiting for a Senior Commercial Manager for our Piccadilly Line Upgrade Project (PLU). The Senior Commercial Manager is primarily required to lead the procurement and commercial management of work packages of significant scope, complexity and value for the project. This will include the commercial responsibility of works contracts and working closely with the Project Manager(s) to ensure compliant, co-ordinated and commercially appropriate proposals and outputs in terms of design and cost, as well as undertaking all appropriate levels of internal and external reporting.

Scope:

  • To safeguard the financial and commercial interests of the company by managing and controlling commercial risk, income and expenditure.
  • Contributing to the delivery of the project in a timely, efficient, sustainable and safe manner whilst achieving commercial targets.
  • Meeting client expectations and enhancing the reputation of the business.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain and develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • To run and lead on all commercial aspects from procurement to final account.

What will you do?

  • Lead and implement commercial & financial procedures and reporting systems.
  • Maintain detailed cost forecasts and reconciliation between value and actual cost.
  • Report accurately to the monthly forecast final account.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the relationship between cost, value, and profit.
  • Forecast and monitor cashflow.
  • Support the project manager to manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Carries out risk modelling.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of JCT notices and payment criteria.
  • Carry out interim valuation of the works contractors works to ensure works contractors payments are made in a timely manner.
  • Manages the early warning and change process in accordance with specified project controls..
  • Be skilled in the avoidance and defence of claims.
  • Procure commercially robust packages by demonstrating an understanding of package interfaces and the associated design risk.
  • Demonstrate and understanding of the project procurement strategy.
  • Prepares tender documentation and apply the principles of lump sum, remeasureable and provisional tender allowances and their consequences.
  • Ensure that work contracts are managed effectively throughout delivery period of the project

You will bring

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or other relevant demonstrable academic achievement.
  • Holds or working towards RICS or CIOB.
  • Experience working for a reputable Main Contractor as a Commercial Manager or Quantity Surveyor.
  • Experienced in public funded projects.
  • Rail experience preferred but not required.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Good understanding of building programmes, technology, and construction methods.
  • Ability to read drawings and construction design information.
  • Ability to agree, process and interrogate variations and Loss & Expense.
  • A high level of confidence in preparing internal monthly cost reports/ cost to complete forecasts.
  • Knowledge of measurement and valuation techniques.
  • Knowledge of contractual laws and construction legislation.
