Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Senior Communications Manager role is a dual-function position supporting Executive University Leadership and the Content Team within Central Marketing. This is a new role and will be pivotal in shaping and executing internal and external communications strategies.
This position will report to the Executive Director of Content Marketing. The role will blend strategy, writing, creative execution and event management, and requires a person with drive, a solutions mindset and a positive attitude to be successful.

OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in communications, marketing or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related work experience, demonstrating growth, increasing levels of responsibility and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with senior executives and leaders, demonstrating an ability to manage up, maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the capacity to take initiative and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with multimedia (ex. Photo, video, editing, graphic design, etc.).
  • Experience running paid ads for social media (ex. Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, resilience and self-awareness.
  • Ability to work from the Durham campus several days per week.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends.
  • Ability to travel with executive leadership to various speaking engagements.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Experience in higher education or a similar complex organization
