Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Coordinator Community Health within our Community Safety & Amenity team, your responsibilities would primarily include:

  • Operate as a project lead providing guidance and direction on a range of environmental health areas;
  • Coordinate the preparation, production and distribution of information materials relating to environmental noise to internal and external groups and stakeholders;
  • Assess environmental/public health related technical reports, specifications and plans associated with development applications, building applications, event applications and new;
  • Educate, implement, monitor, and enforce requirements of the WA Public Health Act 2016, WA Food Act 2008, WA Environment Protection Act 1986, and other relevant legislation and;
  • Ensure safe and compliant work practices in accordance with Western Australian Work Health & Safety legislation as well as the City’s safe systems of work

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated experience working as an Environmental Health Officer with local government;
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated practical application of the WA Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1992 or equivalent, from both a compliance and enforcement, and a technical policy and procedural perspective;
  • High level technical competence in relation to noise monitoring equipment and noise compliance evaluation software;
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication including negotiation and conflict management skills and;
  • Experience in preparing technical reports and correspondence in an easy to understand format
