Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Total Compensation and Benefits, the Senior Compensation Consultant is responsible for independently providing consultation, guidance, analysis, recommendations and making decisions on complex compensation matters, activities, practices and policies organization-wide including job evaluations, wage and salary administration, surveys, market research, data analysis, costing, and corporate compensation programs. The position provides education and guidance on processes, relevant collective agreement language and HR policies for matters related to compensation.
YOUR EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Degree in Human Resources or degree with an HR focus, including total compensation.
- CCP, CMS, CEBS or similar compensation focused designation(s) preferred.
- 5 years Progressive experience that includes:
- leading job evaluation activities
- analyzing and making decisions related to compensation matters
- using a variety of methodologies
- performing and participating in market surveys
- providing costing and supporting collective bargaining
- compensation administration for an organization with a diverse workforce
- with significant union presence is preferred.
- Experience independently making compensation related recommendations and decisions.
- Experience leading consensus building and facilitating challenging discussions where opposing viewpoints or desired outcomes were present to achieve objectives.
- Experience explaining and defending compensation analysis and decisions, including job evaluation decisions.
- Knowledge and experience with compensation theories, practices, programs, and policies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical ability with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills with experience preparing pivot tables, conducting v-look up analysis, and in the use of other complex formulas, etc.
- Verbal and written communication skills commensurate with job requirements.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to multi-task, with strong organizational skills to establish personal work plans.
- Sound interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the civic organization, external contacts, and the public with tact and diplomacy.
