Description:
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, or another related field
- Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in a compensation or reward based role with an understanding of complex, matrix organizations is essential
- Comprehensive compensation/total reward industry experience amongst Western Hemisphere Countries within oil and gas, chemicals or alternative energy/renewables is preferred
- Experience in project management for regional and global projects or processes combined with experience working with varying work schedule pay practices
- Experience in Pay Equity, Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA), Regulatory and Legislative requirements, and geographic differential planning and analysis
- Understanding of HR systems such as Workday, HRIS and SAP would be considered an asset

Accountabilities:
- Develop new or enhance current compensation programs, processes, practices, or initiatives, through the definition, development and execution of related methodologies, end-to-end process and tools in accordance with organizational priorities and alignment to Global Reward policies
- Act as the main focal point accountable for specific global policy update(s), which includes the efficient and effective delivery of the end-to-end content and process and the education and upskilling across stakeholders
- Leverage external insights and internal feedback to continuously create/enhance/influence decisions and outcomes with RLT Sponsor
- Collaborate with Global Policy team to co-lead and deliver Country reviews and outcomes; including benefit and allowance prevalence, benchmarking, and implementation support with country teams
- Deliver both annual and ad-hoc pay benchmarking for varying populations within a country (exempt, non-exempt, union and non-union, hourly), including the processes for data submission to external surveys and developing pay outcomes
- Support the development, roll-out and maintenance of Global Reward policies and processes
- Provide advice on reward matters, ensuring consistent application of and alignment to Shell’s global compensation policies
- Perform job evaluations using Hay methodology to assess fit within our architecture for new and existing roles; partner with HR and business leaders to understand work activities and requirements to develop job levelling recommendations
- Manage conflicting perspectives related to pay challenges, bring parties to consensus and a robust conclusion by balancing global standards, local budget, market pressures and employment relations aspects
- Develop strong collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders, such as country and line of business HR, Policy & Benefits (VP’s, managers, and consultants)
- Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives, and increase efficiency in the Reward Centre of Expertise
- Current understanding and application of relevant legislation and policy developments within relevant countries; maintain external focus through partnering with network groups and other sources of external information and dat
Responsibilities:
The Shell Global Reward Team is seeking a Senior Compensation & Reward Advisor (also known as Reward & Job Evaluation Consultant internally) to be part of Shell’s Performance and Reward community based in Calgary, AB. This team member is an integral part of the Global Reward organization, reporting to the Global Reward Manager for Shell, and collaborates with 3 other peers based in Edmonton and Houston, as well as other stakeholders across the globe.
Our Global Reward Team combines the expertise areas of reward and job evaluation. In this exciting role, you will be part of a global team, working to deliver healthy organizational structures and reward systems that are market-relevant, equitable and cost-effective. As advisors and consultants to the businesses, functions, and countries; we collaborate closely with stakeholders across various business units, sites, and geographies. You will have the ability to lead and influence global reward projects and contribute towards enhancing existing practices, such as pay transparency. We seek to leverage best practices from inside and outside of Shell, contributing to the continuing development of a world-class organization.
A role within the Global Reward team provides an opportunity to leverage existing foundational compensation and reward competencies and expertise, project management, stakeholder engagement and organizational design skills to deliver fit for purpose local and global solutions for our businesses. This team currently supports a hybrid work model, where employees have the flexibility to work 1 day a week in at The Bow Tower in downtown Calgary with the option to work the remaining days of the week remotely if desired.
