We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Compliance Officer to join our dynamic organisation. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for crafting policies and procedures, establishing and maintaining our regulatory obligation register, and reviewing client due diligence and risk scoring. Your responsibilities include mapping our key controls to ensure the effectiveness of our control framework, and aligning our product and service offerings with our process flow.
You will also play a key role in investigating alerts from our screening and transaction monitoring system, proposing recommendations to address any issues identified. Additionally, you will define and provide key risk indicators to the Head of Compliance and Risk and act as deputy head of compliance when needed.
Your keen eye for detail and diplomatic approach to client interactions will ensure both compliance and client satisfaction are maintained at the highest standards.

In this multifaceted role, you will navigate both global compliance landscapes and specific due diligence requirements for offices. Your responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum, from ensuring local compliance to shaping our global compliance strategy.

  • Your Key Responsibilities:

Policies / Obligation Registrar / Control Mapping
You will be responsible for crafting and maintaining clear, effective policies and procedures. Establish and manage our regulatory obligation register, ensuring alignment with our compliance framework. Communicate policy changes effectively and provide necessary training to relevant stakeholders. Map key controls to verify the effectiveness of our control framework, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal standards.
Client Due Diligence & Risk Scoring Execution / Review
Conduct and review thorough client due diligence, including meticulous verification of identification and business understanding. Use pragmatic analysis and common sense during due diligence and risk assessments. Exercise sound judgment in asking pertinent questions during enhanced due diligence, ensuring clients meet our company’s risk appetite while balancing compliance with client satisfaction.
Alert Management (Screening and Transaction Monitoring)
Play a crucial role in managing alerts from our screening and transaction monitoring systems. Investigate and address compliance alerts with well-articulated reasons for disposal, ensuring the thought process and conclusions are clear. Complete these tasks within defined turnaround times, and escalate promptly when deadlines cannot be met.
Key Risk Indicators - Preparing Dashboard Reporting to Head of Compliance and Risk
Prepare and provide key risk indicator reports and dashboards for the Head of Compliance and Risk. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of compliance metrics, helping to inform strategic decision-making and maintaining a robust compliance posture.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: Bring at least 5-7 years of relevant experience in client due diligence, with a strong background in compliance, policy development, and risk management within an onboarding team or a compliance function.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English, with proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading essential for effective communication with clients and regulatory bodies. Additional language skills are beneficial for handling a diverse client base.
  • Professional Certification: Holding a certification from a recognized AML/CTF organization, like ACAMS or equivalent, is highly desirable, indicating a thorough understanding of AML/CTF practices and a commitment to professional development in the field.
  • Analytical Skills for Risk Assessment: Demonstrate proficiency in conducting initial risk assessments for new corporate clients, identifying potential AML/CTF risks through a detailed analysis of client information and business structures.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of AML/CTF and Sanctions regulations, applying this knowledge effectively in the client onboarding process to ensure compliance and proper client classification.
  • Client Verification Skills: Exhibit expertise in conducting comprehensive due diligence, including identity verification and detailed scrutiny of business information, particularly for high-risk clients and entities.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate complex AML/CTF and Sanctions requirements clearly and empathetically to clients, fostering trust and understanding without inducing discomfort.
  • Ethical Judgment and Integrity: Maintain the highest ethical standards, capable of making prudent judgment calls in complex situations and escalating compliance issues when necessary.
