About the role
Balfour Beatty have an amazing opportunity for a Senior Construction Manager to join our Major projects team on the Rolls Royce project, currently mobilising from our facilities in Raynesways, Derby.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Balfour Beatty’s team that has been selected as a construction partner for the Rolls Royce expansion work in Raynesway, Derby, needed to meet the growth in demand from the MOD and as a result of the AUKUS agreement. As part of this programme of works, which will be executed in stages over the next eight years, Balfour Beatty will deliver infrastructure enabling works, build new manufacturing and office facilities, and redevelop existing industrial buildings on the site.
The Senior Construction Manager will support the project manager in planning and delivering the Enabling works element of the project. Planning the logistics strategy, ensuring H&S and quality and monitoring progress of the delivery against the schedule and reporting to the Project core team.
What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Construction Manager some key responsibilities will be:
- Lead the project team and manage the supply chain to deliver projects to time, cost and quality targets and standards
- Ensure safety targets and standards are maintained
- Ensure sustainability targets and standards are achieved
- Ensure that project plans and schedules are robust and optimise project resources and timescales and are communicated effectively to the project team
- Manage Subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress; providing direct instruction and support as necessary such that contractual arrangements are achieved.
- Participate with the management of internal/external design team/consultants to meet project deadlines under supervision from a Contract or Project Manager if required
- Liaise with the Project Manager or Contract Manager to ensure they are fully aware of project progress and is notified of all financial, specification and time risks ensuring that all additional work is identified.
- Assist with people management and resourcing of the project

- Effective leadership skills, including experience of leading teams and confidence in the ability to lead, influence and communicate with others to deliver targets
- Financial awareness, with a desire to continuously improve safety and sustainability performance.
- An appropriate and valid CSCS card
