Role/ Department:
The Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) team is responsible for the development and implementation of Northern Trust’s diversity, equity and inclusion strategy under the direction of the Global Head of Corporate Sustainability, Inclusion and Social Impact. The team is located across all regions to ensure local best-practice and appropriate cultural adaptation. In the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, the team’s primary focuses are on UK, Ireland, Guernsey and Luxembourg. The role reports to the Global Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer. The role can be based in any of our main EMEA locations. It is a full-time role but can be worked on a hybrid basis in terms number of days in the office and flexibility on working hours.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Ensuring that the aims and objectives of the regional DE&I strategy and Business Unit DE&I plans are achieved by working with key champions and senior stakeholders at regional and local levels.
- Partnering and collaborating with HR to identify trends and themes, solutioning key DE&I issues, delivering advice and analysing workforce data to support the business.
- Bringing diversity, equity and inclusion to life through exciting, inspiring and engaging activities including design and delivery of a DE&I curriculum of workshops, presentations and educational events.
- Providing strategic support and operational guidance to the region’s Business Resource Councils
- Working in close partnership with Internal and External Comms to ensure that DE&I messaging reaches the appropriate audiences for maximum impact, including creative content development.
- Identify new opportunities to support the development of diverse talent, and lead the organisation and execution of existing programmes, including our flagship career development programme, the Diverse Leaders Programme (DLP).
- Collaborate with key stakeholders from across the business to support philanthropy efforts, aligning our DE&I objectives to volunteering opportunities, with a view to enhance employee engagement and create impact in the community.
- Working with Relationship Managers, the Sales Team and other client-facing partners within the business to respond to client requests for partnerships and collaborations on DE&I opportunities, including knowledge-shares and best practice overviews with a view to strengthen relationships and create change with prospects and clients.
- Managing the EMEA DE&I budget, including invoice and expense tracking.
- Manage relationships with key external vendors and partners from across the region, and identify opportunities to use their products and services to accelerate our own programme and change.
- Compiling submissions for diversity benchmarks, indexes and awards as well as RFP/DDQ responses to use our approach to win work and understand our position in the market.
- Representing the organisation externally on diversity and inclusion initiatives and networking with other diversity, equity and inclusion professionals to identify critical market trends and themes.
Skills/ Qualifications:
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
- Experience of executing DE&I initiatives within the EMEA region.
- Ability and confidence to engage, motivate and advise across broad demographic groups and levels of seniority.
- Workshop facilitation and presentation skills.
- Data analytics skills, including good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Considerable experience in project/initiative management, capable of running a variety of projects/initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience of effectively communicating DE&I to internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive self-starter able to work without significant oversight or direction
