What you’ll be doing
Global Employee and Labour Relations, Policies and Programs is a Centre of Expertise within People, Culture and Brand. Reporting to the Director, Global Mobility Services and Foreign Worker Program, you will be responsible the management of CIBC’s Foreign Worker Program in Canada and the US.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.
How you’ll succeed
- Advice and Consultation – Provide strategic immigration advice and consultation to business partners and HR professionals in Canada and the US in accordance with established timelines, and engage internal and external legal counsel as required. Exercise sound judgment and discretion, and escalate complex inquiries to the Director, Global Mobility Services and Foreign Worker Program, or CIBC’s Immigration Compliance Officer (ICO), as required.
- Audits, Reporting and Associated Processes – Manage processes for candidates and employees, and perform audits as required, to confirm employment eligibility from an immigration perspective, and ensure compliance with applicable laws. Maintain oversight over processes that support our program, and recommend process improvements, where applicable.
- Tools and Education – Ensure applicable policies, programs and procedures, as well as related tools, communications, training, and other supporting materials, contribute to operational effectiveness and a positive stakeholder experience.
Who you are
- You have in-depth knowledge of. Canadian and US immigration and can demonstrate 2-3 years of work experience in this regard. It is an asset if you also have experience in global mobility.
- You remain current on. Applicable immigration laws and processes in Canada and the US.
