ERM is seeking a motivated Consultant – EHS/ESG Auditor to join our team in Bucharest.

About the Role:

  • EHS Audits (Due Diligence, Compliance): Conduct environmental, health, and safety audits, including due diligence and compliance assessments, to ensure client adherence to EHS regulations and best practices.
  • Health & Safety Experience: Apply knowledge of health and safety (HS) protocols during audits and evaluations, ensuring safe and compliant practices within client operations.
  • Environmental Permitting: Support clients through the environmental permitting process, ensuring compliance with local and international regulatory requirements.
  • Sustainability Advisory Projects: Provide strategic advice on sustainability initiatives, supporting clients in improving their environmental performance and meeting sustainability goals.
  • ESG and Regulatory Compliance: Evaluate and advise on ESG compliance, including alignment with frameworks such as the EU Taxonomy, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and relevant ESG standards.
  • Contribution to EIA, ESIA, ESDD: Participate in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) to support project development and sustainability assessments.
  • Proposal Support: Assist in the preparation of proposal sections under the guidance of line managers and proposal managers, ensuring that project deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Training and Development: Receive on-the-job and dedicated training under ERM guidance to stay updated on industry practices and further develop EHS and ESG expertise.
  • Project Management: Manage or coordinate small to medium-sized projects, ensuring on-time delivery, client satisfaction, and adherence to budget and scope.
  • Client Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients, ensuring high-quality project delivery and fostering long-term collaboration.
  • Market and Industry Trend Monitoring: Stay informed about external market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes, ensuring that audit practices remain up-to-date.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the business unit and global practice areas, helping to disseminate best practices and expertise across the organization.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Engineering, Planning and Development, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in EHS and/or environmental impact assessment for major investment projects.
  • Fluency in English and Romanian; advanced knowledge of other languages is an advantage but not essential.
  • Familiarity with Romanian EHS regulations, including Romanian permitting procedures (EIA, SEA).
  • Understanding of relevant international E&S safeguards and standards, such as IFC Performance Standards and EBRD Performance Requirements.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, while adhering to strict budgets and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
