EY is seeking a Senior Consultant to become part of our Credit Risk team. With industry-wide emphasis fuelling rapid growth in Credit Risk, it presents an ideal opportunity to join our esteemed, diverse group. You will collaborate with a variety of highly knowledgeable well-informed colleagues on some of the most interesting engagements in the sector.
Our Credit Risk team works closely with other EY financial services risk practitioners, as well as our IT Advisory and Financial Accounting teams, bringing together the range of quantitative modelling and technical skillsets needed to support our clients’ complex requirements.
We offer our clients comprehensive solutions to industry wide challenges in Credit Risk, including IFRS 9, Stress Testing, IRB and Basel, Model Risk Management, capital management, credit automation, model re-platforming and many others. Through our delivery, we apply a wide range of traditional modelling skills as well as newer more tech-enabled ones, such as machine learning and Generative AI.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS

We’re looking for problem solvers, with strong technical skills who can demonstrate quantitative credit risk experience. You should also be comfortable working as a team member who has a real desire to share responsibility and provide support to your colleagues, whilst maintaining constant communication on the progress of engagements.

Responsibilities:

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Consultant in the team you can expect to be involved in the following activities:

  • Work effectively and efficiently as a team member sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress
  • Develop/review/assess credit risk models on a technical basis
  • Perform analytical/monitoring testing around models within the credit risk space (IRB, Stress testing)
  • Draft slides and reports to be delivered to the client
  • Contribute to business development and the growth of the EY in the market
  • Contribute to developing internal solutions
  • Collaborate on workstreams and provide coaching to more junior colleagues
  • Take part in the project planning and economics aspect of the project (budgeting, billing, etc)
  • Engage in learning courses and side of desk activities
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with clients while building strong internal relationships within the advisory practice and across other services

TO QUALIFY FOR THE ROLE YOU MUST HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Ideally you will have a strong academic background in a quantitative and technical course (Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Math, Physics, Statistics preferred)
  • Experience in financial services, with a focus on the UK market
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills. Tackling problems in an efficient manner using the shortest path logic
  • Credit risk knowledge required across:
  • IRB (EBA GL and SS11/13) OR
  • Stress Testing (BoE/EBA/CCAR guidance)
  • Prior experience in model development, monitoring and/or validation of credit risk models
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to build effective relationships
  • Experience in communication with clients and internal stakeholders through meetings, emails and presentations. Ability to explain technical complex credit risk concepts in a simple way to stakeholders with different levels of understanding of credit risk
  • Ability to document workings, findings, produce slides and reports
  • Knowledge of credit risk programming languages such as Python, SAS, SQL, R and other tools such as Microsoft Excel, VBA, Word and PPT
  • Soft skills including teamwork, collaboration, inclusiveness, flexibility, proactiveness, and motivation
