The Senior Consultant, R&D Account Management, role incorporates training consultants on and carrying out some or all the following : (i) determining non-eligibility for claimant companies, (ii) ascertaining and evaluating technical project detail from client’s for qualification as R&D for tax purposes per legislation and government guidelines, to effectively screen non-eligible activity out of the process and in turn asses eligibility of qualifying R&D activity for the R&D Technical team (iii) requesting, reviewing and discussing, financial and expenditure information relevant to the R&D projects, (iv) engaging in client facing, audio and video meetings with clients to inform, motivate and guide clients to efficiently complete their claims, (v) discuss the tax benefits and outcomes from the claim with the client, (vi) arranging consultations, ensuring client attendance, and effective use of the R&D Technical teams schedule, (vii) retention of clients throughout phases, with the aim to re-sign the client (with limited to no fee degradation), (viii) ensure any introducer stakeholders are engaged and informed about the progress of relevant clients,
The Senior Consultant will also be responsible for providing support to Consultants to share their previous experiences, advising on cases from a client service, technical and commercial perspectives to ensure the best possible result for our clients and for the company. This will include: (i) identifying and conducting training on a one to one and one to many basis (ii) conducting quality reviews and effectively feeding back to consultants, (iii) shadowing activity on a regular basis, (iv) complaint handling per company policy.
The Senior Consultant will be responsible for dealing with clients who: (i) have previously had a complaint to minimise risk of future issue, (ii) have more complex clients where risk of error may be higher, or (iii) have higher fees where client retention is imperative.

Client:

  • Ensure highest quality of customer service is delivered at every stage of the account management processes, through quality checking and reporting data to the Leadership team.
  • Manages complex claim compilations and engaging directors/C-level executives and corporate customers.
  • Scheduling and completing telephone/video-based investigations, determining if clients have carried out qualifying R&D activities.
  • Reviews financial documentation and establish the qualification of candidate claimants.
  • Explore potential R&D expenditure in an informed and articulate manner with business leaders including potential for clients to benefit from other services,
  • Manage relationships with a variety of internal contacts to ensure that all deadlines are met in a timely and controlled manner

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, with preference toward major in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or Accounting.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with the R&D Tax Relief Scheme is desirable
  • Good technical understanding of government guidelines/legislation and HMRC guidance regarding the R&D Tax Relief scheme and HMRC policies in maintaining compliance.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have good knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research. Knowledge of PowerBI and Microsoft Work is desirable.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license not required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Standard indoor working environment.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
  • Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm and interface with external vendors as necessary.
  • Independent travel may be requirement: up to 15%.
