SENIOR CONSULTANT SOFTWARE SYSTEMS ENGINEER

*This position requires an active MBI clearance or the ability to obtain a MBI clearance to be considered. *
As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.
Cherokee Federal is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Consultant (Software Systems Engineer) to join our team, supporting IRS high speed scanning and digitalization innovation, as well as business and technology transformation engagements with other federal clients.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of software systems integration, especially related to scanning technologies, document management systems, and image processing software.

SENIOR CONSULTANT SOFTWARE SYSTEMS ENGINEER EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUESTED:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in system integration, data automation, and API development
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience with application development and deployment (DevSecOps, Agile SLDC methods and tools)
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience working with federal agencies or complex, large-scale business operations.
  • Ability to learn and gain proficiency in new software technologies and platforms that are relevant to client’s scanning operations and data integration efforts
  • Organizational skills demonstrating high attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Previous experience supporting IRS or equivalent federal agency preferred
  • This position must acquire IRS MBI clearance
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the current technology stack (scanners, software, and databases) and propose enhancements for better efficiency and integration with digital processing systems
  • Evaluate and document the flow of scanned document data from ingest to inclusion in tax processing systems and applications; recommend technology and process improvements
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on vendor technologies related to OCR, image processing, document management, and data processing
  • Identify opportunities for RPA, AI/ML, and other technology innovation
