The Crown Royalty Services Senior Consultant (“Senior Consultant”) works with the team to identify Crown Royalty incentives and deductions, addresses recoveries stemming from facility expense equalizations (“EQ”) and revenue (“Revenue”) reviews, and performs joint venture audits applicable to oil and gas production in order to reduce the overall Crown Royalty liabilities and operating expenses of our clients.

Client:
- Works as directed on client engagements. Researches issues as directed by the Director, Crown Royalty practice, gathers data from client records and government sources, and performs data entry functions.
- Performs fieldwork at client site to review and obtain detailed support documentation necessary to substantiate Crown Royalty incentive applicability, EQ and Revenue refund claims, and to support calculations used as a basis for filing recovery refund claims.
- Communicates and interacts with clients and third parties under the direction of Practice management.
Value:
- Researches and analyzes provincial Crown Royalty issues and company-specific EQ and Revenue issues, utilizing information available in the public domain, and communicates to management.
- Researches and analyzes Crown Royalty, expense, revenue, and production issues utilizing company-specific data and communicates to management.
- Performs detailed financial calculations and reconciliations based on client and third-party data.
- Works with data and software in Microsoft® Access and Excel in order to prepare supporting documentation necessary to file claims for refund.
- Performs company research for utilization in marketing proposals and prospect development initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Practice management.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, and/or Economics, and two to four years audit, consulting, or related experience in the Crown Royalty or Production Accounting field required. An overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (out of a possible 4.0) is desirable, as is nine hours of Accounting (with a GPA of 3.0). Five to seven years of related experience in EQ, Revenue, or Joint Venture auditing, and an extensive understanding of financial reporting issues and procedures associated with oil and gas producing/processing functions may be accepted in lieu of the degree requirement.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
- Standard indoor working environment.
- Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
- Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm; interface with clients and external vendors as necessary.
- Independent travel requirement: 0 to 10%.
- 40+ hour standard workweek requirement.
