Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under limited oversight of the Executive Director, Regulatory Affairs or the Senior Counsel, the Senior Contract Specialist is responsible for drafting, reviewing, revising, and negotiating a variety of third-party contracts on behalf of Great Canadian Entertainment (“the Company”). In addition, the Senior Contract Specialist will manage the organization and lifecycle of all contractual documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies, applicable laws and relevant regulations.
EDUCATIONAL AND FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Legal Studies, or a related field. Paralegal certification or advanced degree (JD, LLM, MBA) is an asset.
- 8+ years of experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and management, ideally in a regulated or complex commercial environment.
- Solid working knowledge of Canadian contract law; experience with casino, gaming, liquor, hospitality or regulated industries is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as standard technology skills.
- Familiarity with contract management systems or related legal technology tools preferred.
- Ability to spot and address discrepancies or risky contract terms.
- Comfortable writing, discussing, modifying, and finalizing legal and commercial terms with limited oversight.
- Capable of managing large volumes of contracts and meeting critical deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Able to identify potential legal or business risks and recommend pragmatic solutions.
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams and external parties.
