Description:
OVERVIEW
Thurber has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Contracts Analyst to join our team in either Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta.
Thurber provides geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials engineering and testing services for a variety of industries across Canada. Our multidisciplinary expertise allows us to work on problems related to earth, the environment, and construction materials. We solve problems in a wide variety of industries including transportation, building construction, municipal infrastructure, land development, dams and water resources, industrial development, mining, oil and gas, marine, and environmental services.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree in relevant field of study;
- At least 10 years of progressive experience, with preference given to experience working with an engineering consulting firm;
- High level of discretion and confidentiality;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Comfortable discussing and negotiating contracts with external clients;
- Excellent reading comprehension skills and an eye for details;
- Strong computer skills (i.e. spreadsheet and word-processing); and,
- Ability to work independently as a sole practitioner in the organization, with general feedback from the senior management team.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will assist in the interpretation of contract and subcontract terms and conditions, statements of work, client requests, and subcontractor agreements. Responsibilities will include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
- Review contracts and spot ambiguities, inaccuracies, and inconsistencies;
- Provide support to our management and project staff to ensure internal and external client relations are running smoothly when it comes to contract drafts and negotiation;
- Provide recommendations to assist in solving conflicts that arise from existing contracts;
- Coordinate with all levels of management to analyze contract strategies;
- Establish and maintain a contract review process and database;
- Review and provide oversight for all existing contracts by inspecting the contract database;
- Establish a contract management system that fits the organization’s needs;
- Provide technical services in developing a standard and appropriate use of language for each document;
- Make recommendations for beneficial sourcing and procedure;
- Oversee closeout process when all the terms and conditions have been met;
- Ensure all payments have been made;
- Analyze the impact of contractual changes and any liability exposure that the change might cause;
- Establish and maintain a subcontractor database to aid in the selection, qualification, and ongoing management of subcontractors;
- Develop, implement, and execute processes with internal and external customers to address subcontractor prequalification, delivery, performance, quality, best value, service, technical improvements, safety, and other related items; and,
- General subcontract administration and coordination of approved and authorized proposals and agreements.
