YOUR ROLE
The purpose of this role is to manage the effective conduct of individual conveyancing matters and support DCJ’s housing and property construction programs. This is a great opportunity for candidates who want to gain hands-on experience in legal services, property transactions, and construction contracts while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The role offers exposure to a range of legal matters, providing the chance to work with various stakeholders and contribute to the successful delivery of key housing projects.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As part of the Property Transactions – Homes team within the Law Reform and Legal Services at the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), you will manage all aspects of conveyancing and construction contracts related to the purchase, sale, and development of land. You will perform tasks such as preparing and reviewing contracts, handling easement and dedication matters, coordinating settlements, and maintaining legal records.
You will also:
- Prepare, review, and issue contracts for the sale of land, construction, and maintenance.
- Draft, review, and facilitate the registration of easement and dedication legal documents.
- Coordinate exchange and settlement arrangements, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, providing clear and accurate information.
- Manage post-settlement actions and maintain updated records in legal systems.
- Support the removal or extinguishment of land use restrictions when required.
- Work as part of a collaborative team focused on delivering key legal services
