We are currently recruiting for a Corporate Lawyer or Senior Corporate Lawyer to join AGL during an exciting time of transition, delivery and growth.
As a trusted legal adviser working as part of a high performing and collaborative team, you will provide legal advice on managing AGL’s response to regulatory inquiries, investigations and litigation. In addition, you will assist AGL to maintain relationships with regulators including the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and the Australian Energy Regulator (AER). Experience advising on competition and consumer law is also highly desirable.
This is a full-time or part-time role for a 12months (parental leave cover), based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.
What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Group Counsel - Competition Regulation & Strategy, you will:

  • Managing regulator inquiries and investigations (including litigation, and formal / informal information requests).
  • Contribute to AGL’s regulatory strategy.
  • Maintain relationships with the ACCC, AER, jurisdictional regulators (as required) and other external stakeholders.
  • Provide legal advice, primarily in respect of the CCA.

About you

What you’ll bring to the table

  • Legally qualified with 5+ years of PQE, admitted to practise in Australia holding a current practising certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience in running disputes and litigation in both Federal and State jurisdictions
  • Knowledge of the energy industry, including regulatory market frameworks will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of the CCA, ideally with practical experience in its application to the Australian energy industry and CCA litigation experience would be an advantage.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with exceptional written and verbal communication skills (including the ability to influence stakeholders internally and externally).
  • Strong and effective project management skills.
  • Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills.
