Description:

Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Cost Controller to join our client’s team on a full-time permanent basis. This role will report to the Finance Manager and Project Manager to provide effective cost management support for their major oil and gas projects.
These prestigious multi-disciplinary projects offer long-term opportunities as you play an essential role in contributing to the success of the projects. From the initial project startup to closeout, you will be involved in every aspect of the project lifecycle.
As the Senior Cost Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of the project including cost control metrics, forecasting, and variance analysis, as well as managing all aspects of project accounting.

The role

  • Manage project accounting activities, including cost control and generating project budget and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Analyze project financial data and provide recommendations for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Cost control and analysis of earned value/shortfall
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project forecasting and reporting..
  • Provide cost control support and assistance to project and business managers, including project close out and lessons learnt reviews.
  • Input client variations and maintain current contract value and budgets.
  • Review of requisitions and commitments for compliance to project cost coding.
  • Prepare consolidated project invoicing forecasts for finance.
  • Ensure project cost-revenue report, risk and opportunity register and cash flow is provided to the Project Manager for inclusion in the monthly reports.
  • Prepare forecasts, cost trend reports, and budgets to control project costs
  • Report on deviations, underruns and overruns, and can make recommendations for corrective action
  • Assists in looking at opportunities to reduce operating costs and improve financial performance; such as working capital, controllable expenses and project costs.
  • Ensure all internal and external compliance and process regulations are adhered to

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in project accounting or related field in the oil and gas industry
  • Preferable experience in a large project in subsea oil and gas projects
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience with project accounting software and ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong financial acumen combined with a solid understanding and application of project cost management principles.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, particularly regarding data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work across numerous tasks and maintain a high standard.
  • High level accuracy and attention to detail.
