Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will have extensive pre-contract experience and a strong background in real estate sector, with a focus on commercial real estate.
You will play a key role in ensuring our projects are delivered within scope, on time, and within budget while maintaining quality.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Certifications (Chartered MRICS – preferred but not required).
EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) with both local and international construction standards and cost benchmarking.
- Leadership experience managing teams of cost managers.
- Experience in large-scale projects such as infrastructure, commercial, and residential.
- Proven track record in managing project budgets, cost estimation, forecasting, and commercial reporting.
- Familiarity with procurement strategies and contract negotiation.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Cost Management Software: Proficiency in CostX.
- Measurement Standards: Expert in using different measurement standards such as NRM, POMI and CESMM and other relevant industry standards.
- Ability to effectively differentiate and apply various measurement standards across different project types (infrastructure, commercial, residential).
- Knowledge of Estimation Techniques: Expertise in unit rate analysis and value engineering.
- Cost Estimation & Control: Strong ability to prepare accurate cost estimates and manage budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
- Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks in projects.
- Reporting & Analysis: Advanced skills in commercial reporting, variance analysis, and cost forecasting.
- Stakeholder Management: Ability to communicate complex commercial information to stakeholders at all levels, including clients, senior management, and project teams.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to monitor budgets and commercial performance effectively.
SOFT SKILLS:
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, clients, and consultants.
- Time Management: Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Negotiation & Persuasion: Ability to influence decisions and resolve issues to benefit project goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead pre-contract cost management responsibilities.
- Provide advice and support on cost-effective solutions, including value engineering.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure contingency budgets are managed appropriately.
- Prepare regular reports on projects highlighting any deviations from the budget.
- Review and analyze project costs, including Preliminaries, Overheads, and materials.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory bodies.
- Mentor and train junior cost managers.
- Collaborate with clients and other stakeholders to ensure the project is managed effectively.
