Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
You will be involved in a wide range of asset management legal matters, supporting the various TDAM business platforms. This can include:
(i) advising on the launch and distribution of retail and private funds,
(ii) providing legal and regulatory advice in relation to investment funds, portfolio management, and fund management services,
(iii) drafting, reviewing regulatory documents and reports,
(iv) negotiating commercial agreements and documentation, and
(v) working with internal stakeholders and managing external counsel to achieve business objectives.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ideally 7+ years (minimum 4) of experience in a top law firm and/or in-house position practicing securities law; experience providing legal support to asset management firms, pension funds or other buy side participants would be an asset.
- Simplify complex legal problems into concepts that business partners can understand, identify issues, and provide practical insight into risks to assist business partners in making decisions.
- Pro-actively balance risk-taking with sound legal advice on complex situations, assess risks in ambiguous situations and develop solutions to legal issues with no established precedent and provide sound advice to business partners.
- Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
- Manage multiple deadlines and priorities without sacrificing focus and attention to detail and work independently to provide legal support on major projects in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Work collaboratively in a large legal team setting with other lawyers and TD Legal Department leaders.
